Fashion Advice That Anyone Can Afford

If you're looking for bold fashion advice, then look back to the sixties, the era of freedom and liberation. That was perhaps the era of greater social change than any era since. The world as we know it today would not be here if not for the sixties.

From the Civil Rights Movement to Women's liberation, the 60s paved the way. This era of liberation even spread to the fashion industry. No other lasting item of apparel proves this point more than the mini skirt.

Mini skirt, mini-skirt or miniskirt - spell it as you like it is the same thing: short, sassy and sexy. The mini skirt made its debut in 1964 when a French fashion house made the bold move of moving the hemline of skirts up above the knee.

Then a British designer took her cue from them and pushed the limits even further with the Chelsea style skirt. That was in 1966.

After that, the miniskirt ruled the fashion world. Some thanks has to be given to the inventors of the pantyhose, because without that, there may never have been a mini. At any rate, it took off like a rocket and it wasn't long before every woman young enough to get away with it was wearing a mini skirt in the clubs and on the streets of every major city.

Since the sixties, mini-skirts have waxed and waned in popularity, but have never really gone out of style. They are made from every conceivable fabric and worn for every occasion. The casual denim version is perhaps the most popular, but it's not unheard of for a girl to choose to wear a tight see-through lycra mini or a sexy schoolgirl mini.

So what is the best fashion advice for the fearless fashionista? Don't take anyone's advice. The message of the sixties was: "do your own thing." Take it to heart, ladies and show the world what you've got!
